Dangerous E-mail Claiming to Be From IRS - 9/8/11
We have been seeing a severe uptick in bogus e-mails from hackers claiming to be from the IRS. These e-mails contain a link that will install a Trojan virus on your computer if clicked. The subject line varies, but some examples are:
- Fraud tax income IRS.gov
- Transaction alert
- Notice of Underreported Income IRS.gov
- Internal Revenue Service IRS.gov
- Federal Tax Income
- Fraud Tax income IRS.gov
Please remember to never trust e-mails that contain links unless you are absolutely positive it is safe and you were expecting it…even from a trusted sender.
