Christmas in July Follow-up
Christmas came early this year at Central State Bank, Benzie County’s full-service community bank. Central State Bank partnered with Benzie Area Christian Neighbors (BACN) to hold a Christmas in July Food Drive which ran from July 9-23. Central State Bank employees accepted items at their two fully decorated locations in Beulah and Benzonia. The final tally…452 pounds of food and $707 in donations!!
“We regularly hold a holiday food drive in hopes that we can help out the less fortunate members of our community,” said Norman G. Campbell, Central State Bank President & CEO. “With the economic situation being what it is, we figured, why wait until December when we can lend a helping hand right now as well?”
Santa Claus himself even made an appearance at the Beulah office in support of the food drive. As his sleigh doesn't perform well in summer weather (and neither do the reindeer!), he zoomed into town on a motorcycle.
“Summer is one of the food pantry’s busiest seasons and the timing allows all monetary gifts to be matched dollar for dollar as part of the John L. Mulvaney Summer Match challenge” said David Abeel BACN Director of Development. “It’s great that St. Nick would take a few minutes from his summer vacation to help call attention to the drive.”
BACN is a non-denominational 501(c)3 charity providing food, clothing, furniture, household goods and financial assistance to families in need throughout Benzie and Northern Manistee counties. Visit www.benziebacn.org or call 231-882-9544 for information or volunteer opportunities.
